Zoe was born in Northern California and raised in Hawai’i. Growing up in Hawai’i her childhood was always spent outdoors which is where her love for nature started. 

She has always loved painting and drawing. One of Zoe's first memories is her mom telling her that it was time to learn how to write her name but she wanted to learn how to draw tulips first. 

When she was in high school she hand painted four trucker hats for her family to wear for paddling. They were sitting on the beach one day when someone asked them where they had gotten them from. That's when Zoe's mom told them that Zoe had painted them. To her surprise they asked if she sold them and if they could buy one. At the time she was not selling her artwork which they told them. After they left Zoe was told by her family that was the sign to start selling her work. That’s when Hats By Zoe was born. Throughout high school and part of college she sold hand painted custom trucker hats.

It wasn’t until she was in college that someone asked to buy one of her watercolor paintings. Thus Zoe Rae Art was created.

Zoe currently lives in Colorado which has been inspiring her newest pieces of art. Nature has always been the inspiration of her artwork. Every time Zoe travels she tries to go somewhere new. She feels that to paint a landscape you have to physically be there to know how to express it. This is why her work is of the places she has lived and  traveled to.
